Welcome to the new & improved Canton Township website. The purpose of this site is to serve as a helpful and informative tool regarding township business for our Canton Township residents and taxpayers. Five Nuisance Properties

The Board of Trustees approved the following 5 properties be declared a nuisance, as deemed by the Zoning Director, and order them abated per Ohio Revised Code 505.86 and the Canton Township Property Maintenance Code.+ Read More 

 

Helen Street NW Traffic Study

The Board of Trustees approved submitting Helen Place NW, between Broad & Clarendon Ave NW, to the Stark County Engineers Office for a Traffic/Speed Study. + Read More

Former North Industry Elementary School

Due to the deteriorated condition of some of the boarded-up windows at the former elementary school, along with continued vandalism, the Board of Trustees approved hiring Rapid Response & Restoration to replace the rotted and missing OSB boards on the windows, permanently secure the tops of the windows, and paint the new OSB boards.+ Read More 

 

Township Parks

To get ready for the summer season, the Road Department will be planting trees at the Community Park on Oyer Street SE, and cleaning out the creek bed to help with the flooding of the parking lot when it rains.+ Read More 

 

Yard Waste Drop-Off Location is Moving

The township yard waste drop-off area is moving. Its present location is just south of the Mikunda Baseball Field on Central Avenue SE. + Read More 

 

Township Receives Reimbursement for Mowing Nuisance Properties

The Fiscal Officer reported to the Board that with the last real estate tax settlement received from Stark County, Canton Township was reimbursed $8,703.04 for “High Grass” nuisance properties.+ Read More

Grant Received for Meyers Lake Project

Notification has been received from Ohio Public Works Commission confirming Canton Township’s request for financial assistance in the form of a grant.+ Read More 

 

Canton Township will participate in “Camp Re-Use It” Program

A FREE recycling camp for students in 1st – 9th grade, will be presented by Plain Township Parks & Recreation Dept and Stark Solid Waste District. + Read More 

 

Stark Soil & Water Conservation District

Trustee Smith read a letter received from the Board of Supervisors of Stark Soil and Water Conservation District. + Read More 

 

Donations Received for Mikunda Ball Field

In recent weeks, the Road Dept has been modifying and improving the condition of the Lou Mikunda Baseball Field on Central Avenue SE .+ Read More

FEMA Grant Awarded to Fire Dept

The Canton Township Fire Department has been awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and that in consultation with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) in an approved project cost totaling $759,908.00+ Read More

Community Park is Open

In view of the early arrival of the beautiful spring weather, the Board of Trustees approved opening the Community Park on Oyer Street SE on Wednesday, March 14th; and it will remain open 24/7 on a trial basis. Faircrest Park is open all year round.+ Read More
