Free Smoke Detectors

Free Smoke Detectors Are Available

The Canton Township Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau has been awarded smoke detectors and replacement batteries through a grant with the Stark County Safe Kids Coalition. Over the past couple of months, children who have attended one of our safety programs or educational programs in Canton Township have received one of these detectors.

Some of the events and locations where we distributed detectors and the amounts we distributed are as follows.

  • Canton South Mega Event - 23
  • Community Days - 29
  • CYC - 30
  • Safety Days at Prairie College - 25
  • 6th Grade classes at Faircrest Middle School - 100

SAFETY TIP!!! - TEST YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS AT LEAST ONCE-A-MONTH AND BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR BATTERY AUTOMATICALLY AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR.
